List the assessment methods to be used and the context and resources required for assessment. Copy and paste the relevant sections from the evidence guide below and then re-write these in plain English.
Elements describe the essential outcomes. | Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. |
1 | Determine job requirements | 1.1 | Identify job requirements from specifications, drawings, designs, project sheets or work instructions |
| 1.2 | Identify the workplace, health and safety (WHS) practices and procedures to be used |
| 1.3 | Calculate the quantities required to complete the job to the furniture industry specifications |
2 | Plan and prepare for work | 2.1 | Determine the appropriate work practices from procedures and material safety data sheets (MSDS) information |
| 2.2 | Identify the characteristics of the surface and the required surface finish from specifications or work instructions |
| 2.3 | Select the appropriate application methods according to the project sheets or work instruction requirements |
| 2.4 | Identify and check tools, equipment and accessories for the required surface coating task for safe and effective operation |
3 | Prepare for application of surface coatings | 3.1 | Comply with work, health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times |
| 3.2 | Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with procedures |
| 3.3 | Check surfaces for contamination and correct preparation in accordance with specifications and work instructions |
| 3.4 | Prepare surfaces using appropriate materials in accordance with specifications and work instructions, if required |
| 3.5 | Identify and repair products with surface or other faults as required |
| 3.6 | Make trial applications of surface coatings to check equipment operation, materials consistency and specified surface finish |
| 3.7 | Identify faults and rectify according to procedures |
4 | Apply surface coatings | 4.1 | Apply coatings according to project sheets, material manufacturer specifications and work instructions |
| 4.2 | Inspect finished products to meet specifications |
| 4.3 | Refinish products that do not meet specifications |
5 | Check work area and maintain equipment | 5.1 | Clean equipment and inspect for serviceable condition and store and report faulty and/or defective equipment in accordance with procedures |
| 5.2 | Store or dispose of materials according to procedures |
| 5.3 | Clean and maintain work area |
